Frequently Asked Questions

What is assisted living?
The Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) defines an assisted living residence this way:

A special combination of housing, personalized, supportive services and healthcare designed to the needs - both scheduled and unscheduled - of seniors who need help with the activities of daily living (ADL) such as bathing, dressing, eating, as well as monitoring medications.

Why assisted living?
Residents come to Willow Falls for many reasons. Some come, because they are lonely and want socialization. Some no longer want to cook, clean, or manage a home. While others may need various levels of assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s).

Does my insurance, Medicare or Medicaid cover assisted living?
Although assisted living residents or their families generally pay privately for assisted living, many long-term insurance policies cover assisted living services. Medicare and Medicaid do not cover assisted living in Illinois.

Are there VA Benefits for assisted living?
There may be benefits available if you or your spouse served during war time. Contact Willow Falls for more information.

What if my loved one needs more care?
We assess everyone before they move in to make sure we can meet their needs under Assisted Living regulations. We have three levels of care that we are able to provide for your loved one. There are additional outside resources that are also available such as home health, physical therapy, or hospice if your loved one needs more care. Occasionally a resident may require moving to skilled care. Although our goal is to have residents remain here in their home.

What if the resident is suffering from Alzheimer's or memory impairment?
The Inn at Willow Falls has a special program designed for Alzheimer's and other memory-impaired conditions. This program is housed in a separate "limited access" of The Inn devoted to the special needs of these residents and staffed by team members committed to, and specifically trained for, caring for residents with memory impairments. The program utilizes special personalized techniques that focus on the remaining memories and skills of residents to help create pleasant days full of familiar and comforting items and activities.

Are the apartments furnished?
You bring your own furniture and decorate your apartment to make it your home.

Are there any restrictions on visits by family and friends?
Family and friends are welcomed and encouraged to take part in life at The Inn.
